The fare on paid roads will rise to the level of Europe
During the first stage of introduction of a new plan for the period of 2010-2020, Avtodor set moderate tariffs for paid roads, then the company is going to gradually increase prices to the level of Europe.
The Avtodor state company developed an investment policy document, which presents an updated tariff strategy.
Now tariffs are 35-40% lower than in Europe. For example, travel on a highway repaired by Avtodor costs almost 1 ruble per 1 km of road. On the new built track there costs 1.5 rubles per 1 km. Exceptions are the roads built under the concession agreement, the price per kilometer of the road is set in agreement with the concessionaire. For example, the 18th kilometer MKAD costs 8 with a small rubles per 1 km.
Avtodor plans to further develop its company more, create new projects, which will require more funding to spend the expenditure of funds effective. The company intends to achieve this goal by increasing road tariffs. For example, a paid highway in France or Italy costs 0.7-0.8 euros per 1 km, which of course is much more expensive than today’s rates in Russia. But tariffs for sections of tracks in Russia built under a concession agreement exceed even European prices.
Experts say that it is not entirely correct to compare Europe with Russia in this matter. The European, having paid taxes, will pay the development of the road network, and moving around the paid area, he pays just for comfort. The European Commission reports that they have paid roads 3%.
