The North American division of Honda, performing under the Acura brand, introduced the new pre -production crossover Acura MDX at the annual Detroit car dealership. The car presented on the cabin is replacing the second generation crossover of the same name, the release of which was started in 2006.
Traditionally, the company’s novelties were of interest only for North American and Mexican motorists, because the company did not supply its products to other regions of the world. However, the situation in the market began to change, and since 2014, Acura will debut on the Russian car market.
The layout of the new generation of crossovers inherited three rows of seats in the former model. The new MDX is equipped with a six -speed automatic transmission and a 310 horses with a volume of 3.5 liters with a gasoline power unit with a power unit. Previously, a similar engine was installed on the Acura RLX sedan. From the same model I switched to a crossover and a hybrid system with a drive from the engine to the front pair of wheels and an electric drive of the rear wheel pair.
A new model will be put on the conveyor from mid -2013, and on sale will appear at the end of the present – early next year. It is not easy to compete with the American with popular crossovers Infiniti, Cadillac and Lexus, however, it can be confidently stated that due to its equipment with ultramodern gadgets, the car will find its customer. But will he be able to gain a foothold and find his permanent place in our market – time will tell.
To say that or definite about the price of the crossover is still difficult. However, it can already be argued that in Russia the third -generation Acura MDX will be sold at a much higher price than in America.MDX of the previous generation was sold in the United States for a price of about 40 thousand dollars.
