The premiere of the Jaguar XK120 sports car took place in 1948 on an attendance in London, where he immediately attracted the attention of the public. The machine was developed urgently in a short time, and initially the company planned to release only 200 copies. However, there were so many orders for this car that Jaguar decided to start its mass production.
The first XK120 had a body with a wooden frame, sheathed aluminum panels. In the future, aluminum sheathing was replaced with stamped steel panels. At that time, the model was very advanced, largely due to the use of the world’s first serial engine with a pair of distribution shafts. Jaguar XK120 was widespread on the world market platform.
Jaguar XK120 could have developed speed up to 214 km/h and was at one time the fastest serial machine. In 24-hour endurance races in Le-Man in the 50th year, three models of the car participated, but they did not enter the number of winners. In 1951, Jaguar modernized Jaguar XK120 and in the same year on the race in Le Man, this racing modification, guided by the riders Peter Walker and Aiter Whitehead, took gold.
Initially, Jaguar produced only the jaguar xk120 relatives. Since 1951, a car bag appeared in the lineup, and in 1953-a convertible. A total of 12,078 copies of XK120 were collected.
