“Jaguar MKII” (Jaguar MKII), like no other car of the representative class of the 60s, causes sentimental feelings. Whole ten years after the appearance of the first motorway in England in 1959, the compact Jaguar was bread and oils for Brows Lane, Coventry. He became the last real four -door sports car produced by this company.
The main advantage of Jaguar MK2 was its versatility. Not only criminal brethren was favorably treated (it was no coincidence that the hero of James Fox was driving the White Jaguar MK2 in the magnificent film of 1970 Donald Cammella “Performance” or the pursuers of Michael Kane raced in a red car in the classical picture of 1971 “Find the cabman”) but also representatives of the law, so he was quick. At the same time, Jaguar Mkii had a very representative appearance: a discreet, convenient and fashionable car for a businessman, designed for people of wealthy. On the track, the car won an excellent reputation as a four -door racing car, and outstanding racers, such as Graham Hill and Colin Chepman, highlighted Jaguar Mkii using the car in everyday life.
Technically, the Jaguar MKII car was not a classic “jaguar” (although the construction of a carrier -type body, first used in the Jaguar Mki model 2.4 1955 release, opened new opportunities for the company), but its beautiful proportional body had characteristic classic features of the times of William Lyons, as well as the machine gun with leather seats and a wooden dashboard and the sheathing of the doors, with the instrument panel, abounded with indicators and switches, Like the cabin of the bomber of the warfare. The owner of the Jaguar MKII had the opportunity to accelerate to the permitted 201 km/h if he had a full version of a car with an engine of 3.8 liters and a mechanical transmission with an accelerating gear – or up to 193 km/h if its machine was equipped with a engine of 3, 4 liters.
More than 80,000 Jaguar MKII machines were sold, in addition, many more expensive versions were created on the basis of the model: S-Type, 420 and even Daimler with its special version of the V-shaped eight-cylinder engine.
